thou i am not really a shrimp person, i do agree that keeping highly sensitive shrimps should keep it simple. easlier to trouble shoot too if problem arises.
after reading so many posting, i am beginning to love CRS....... |

I know but he need to choose btw shrimp or planted tanks. That why many of us shrimp lover will either split the tank up fully shrimp tanks or fully planted tanks. It is rather hard in my own cents of thought to be able to adjust the parameter to suit both. Unless bro patson is not keeping sensitive shrimp. Than it is best to adjust according to his planted needs. I too was itcy to put HC in my tank but when i learn from planted tank bros u need to dose fert,CO2,high light etc i decided to forgo idea and just stick to shrimp keeping.

Re
Thanks to all the bros that had responded. Very much thanks
Jus went down to a few LFS today and describe my problem. Got a veri good feedback and advice from Green Chapter. Things i had overlook which a lot of bros had mentioned oso 1) Nvr actually tested the GH 2) KH at 3-5 is still fine, but Gh shd not be more than 5 3) Had too many rocks, some rocks will so call leaded out minerals when soak in water, best to get a bit of the rock and do a test b4 committing on it. 4) Ada soil lowers the pH, somemore with my CO2 running at 4bps, the pH will further be lowered and will face problem during WC 5) Theres oso this TDS that need to be tested. 6) Most impt of all, its possible to have planted rockscape with CRS, but the parameters must be constantly checked. After chatting with him for quite a while, went home to test my Gh and oso got a TDS meter. Wow... my GH reads at 11. Remembering his advice, I went to check out the rocks and true enuf, there 2 pieces that is stained with cement and cement will cos the GH to go haywire. Immediately removed the rocks and proceed with a 100% WC. now running the tank and will do a constant monitoring for the nxt few days. If need be will lower my CO2 so that the pH will not fluctuate too much either. Now having chiller running at 22 degree, dont think algae will be a problem at that temp. Its been a tiring day today, and last but not least, veri much thanks to all the bros again. |

actually after removing the rock just 50% with distill water will do unless u have lifestock in there is not just do 50% distill but since u have already do a 100% change than just watch the parameter. Other than a TDS meter is better to check with individual GH and KH test kit. TDS come in after all is stable and u sorta of use it to monitor.
