Bro fireblade, do you mean BBS "cannot" be hatch in tanks? If I remember right, it can be hatch in tanks with reasonable table salt water ( need not be the same salinity as sea water but should not be too little too and free of iodine ). The BBS will hatch in 24-36 hours with continuous aeration. The largest size I kept can get to 3mm. Here is a link below of a SG bro with his successful breeding of BBS.

Hatching in fresh water sometimes takes longer time than using direct sea water due to slight different parameters required but the effect would still be hatched. The longest time I took is less than 36 hours using tap water with table salt. After that the aeration power is reduce to little bubbles once BBS hatch and start feeding them to keep them alive. If everything is right, it can grow to 3mm or more in 1.5-2 months time.

BBS can be easily killed if the water flow rate is too fast or if they are starve or overfed with polluted water. So adding water to the hatched BBS is advisable if any bro wanted a big colony of large BBS for other intended feedings.

actually.. bbs hatching is vv common, bros wif bettas hav been doing it all the time..u can even hatch it in some inverted coke bottles wif an air pumb(so that u can drain off the egg shells at the bottom).. its vv easy and can even use table salt, if u realli wan, u shd consult the betta bros.. i was a little suprise this topid survived so long..

btw i agree daphania is more convenient.. it also keeps ur water clean and survive longer.. but i tink daphania is bigger den bbs.. too big for some fries.. not exactly sure on this one..
