probably? i dont know if lights a factor too? my shrimps change from translucent to red on a daily basis..lol

when i put black gravel and black paper at the tank my shrimps just turned red over a couple of days.

U mean contrast? Actually not only shrimps, fish oso like tat. Looks very red when put with a very dark background.

I agree in environment. water condition and stuffs play a part. my tank in office has not much plants. half a moss ball, one fern leaf, 2 tiny stalk of nana. think thats all. hmm, will try to post a pic in office tomorrow. i change like 150ml of water daily (approx half a coke can size)
The cherries look comfy and even released 10 babies. but funny, i throw food in but they don't seem to be eating it. Maybe this food sucks. thinking of changing.

But at home. my cherries released too. last count on sunday was like 30 babies. Now here is the interesting part. Some babies are pretty large. say 1/2 cm long transparent. but my temp of water at home is like 28-30 with fan. so everyday when i reach home, i put in a plastic of ice, and when water goes like 26 deg, those bigger babies turn pinkish... hope its a sign that its gonna be a red shrimp in a few wks time.

so my conclusion. water temp plays a substancial part on colour.
