hahahaha... me using red quartz as substrate.... just a thin thin 1-2mm layer... with a nice small BW as centerpiece... maybe a couple of large pebbles...

sand would of course be nice.. but maintainence not easy leh... and me got no experience using sand...

Acutally bro, maintenance is a breeze. Just hover ur hose while doing siphoning slightly above the sand ok liao. The waste will get sucked up, leaving the sand behind. Some practice and u will be a pro. Its really quite easy. U should try it.

also, just realised puffers are very very fast swimmers....

my previous puffers hardly swim fast nor far, as always got feeder buffet...

if fast feeders, like danios, will puffers be able to catch them?

hahahahaha... dun make me gian leh..

tank set-up cycling and running now liao leh... somemore haven even buy the sand

and my current flow in the tank is quite strong... the sand mite be all swept to one side of the tank.... mite even choke the inlet as a result..

puffers are never fast swimmers... their body structure isn't streamline.. hard to propell thru the water

The way pufferfish swim compared with that of other fish is rather like comparing a helicopter to an aeroplane; while they may be slow, they are extremely manoeuvrable, and this allows pufferfish to spot and capture prey that other fish would simply swim straight by.
