puffer usually prefer neutral pH. I keep my congo and fahaka in 7-7.8 pH.
Its important to have pH buffer to keep the pH constant. Extreme changes in pH will stress the puffer. Stress puffer is susceptible to diseases. The most common diseases are ich (due to their scaleless body) and IPs (avoid feeding feeders to minimize the risk). |

Does anyone here feed their puffers with ramshorn snails? If yes, what is a good size ramshorn snail for feeding? My company tank had an explosion of them and there's now loads of them all over the place.

Jon San what's your puffer breed and size ? Yes ramshorns are good food . General rule for small puffers will be to feed snails the size of your puffer's eye.

i feel compelled to type this. utterly appalled and disgusted with yunfeng's treatment of their puffers, look at their latest thread. dono if the puffed up palembangs are dead or alive, because i dont see any eyes on any of them. either way it is an apparent attempt to get all the palembangs puffed up. have promptly zapped them for this.

They were taken out of the water deliberately so that they will puff up.
That's the most cruel thing to do to puffers , not to mention the real risk of killing them due to their ingestion of air. they are not built for this purpose despite common misconception . They do puff up in water when there is danger . And that's fine for them . Not air . whether the pictures are of yun Feng itself or from the exporter side, it is very ignorant of them to put them up for publicity / marketing . |
