I notice they poo a lot. My other puffer poo a lot everyday after meal. I use a net to scoop out every pool I can find. I change water once a week. Every change is half tank.

For the size of puffers sold at C328, they can take small pieces of MP already. Of course when they take MP, it also means they can already take other dead food such as mussels.
Couple the diet with snails and gutloaded feeder shrimps and it's a very good diet. Bloodworms are not very nutritious and it's a pain to feed. But your choice. For me, it gets sucked up by the filter and lodge themselves in EVERY crevice they find. That's a pain. For those who throws sand into your tank, remember to stir the sand thoroughly every week. But I like to keep it hassle free and go without sand. Again, just my opinion. Fahakas are not known to be lurkers and they can do without it. |

This is all based on how much hassle you want to avoid and yes i agree with bro bsplenden that its much easier to maintain without sand. Especially if you intend to use an OHF..
But i alwys emphasize that you need a sandy substrate when it comes to fahakas becuse it will use it to burrow. Its the only few fishes that actually make sure of the substrate given to them. Its a natural instinct exhibited by most Fahakas and i believe it we should try our best to make an environment suitable to them. Once the fahaka gets older, you wont see it swimming all over the place 24/7 a day like aros , it wld prefer to laze at the substrate..swimming ard time to time or when theres food to eat or when you come to the tank Comparing my fahaka when there was sand n without sand now, he looked much happier to me when there was sand ard. Now he just looks moody and always stares at the reflection below him..water parameters are fine btw |

so when is your new 3ft tank coming bro shagy? your puffer must be bore in that bare tank..
update on my fahaka, yesterdday night i get bore and throw in a cherry shrimp as a tank mate for my puffer(i know it will get eaten someday). the shrimp go and disturb the puffer, suddenly my puffer move and the next sec i saw only left the tail.....faster death than i think... this morning i try to give it some bloodworm but he did not eat. only looking at me... by the way, any place i can get a tray like thing for me to fill up my sand and place in the tank with it(like a cat litter box). this way i think the sand will not flow everywhere in the tank and more easy house keeping for me. |
