Bro Nutx....sorry to hear of your loss and glad the other piece recover. This is how I managed with new fgt.....

I do a thorough cleaning with tap water and fill up to the top with fresh tap water and add PP....I kiasu and add heavy pp and let the tub sit overnight for 24 hours. I will do another thorough cleaning and fill up with fresh water, add conditioner and use one of my lower grade fish to test the tub.

both were just floating aimlessly on the water surface.....not sure what goes wrong, as temp, pH, salinity were all the same from the old tank.

The Beta didn't make it after 3 hours.....
Alpha still ok at the moment, and start to be able to swim slightly.....but body slime are like peeling off......

When I open Beta gill cover, it was quite pale.....could this be gill fluke problem, and with slight water problem...it trigger off the problem?

Bro, sorry to hear abt ur loss... I would deduce this is due to a pH crash in the 'new' water... On the contrary, ranchu would lie almost motionless at the bottom of tub if chlorine is present in the water.

Basically, water should b aged for at least 24hrs (not >48hrs though) in a well-ventilated & amply air-bubbled container. Wider surface area containers would be ideal. Do you buffer your water?

Bro...I do not think is chlorine, and pH, bec both has been treated.

pH and temp were similar.

The fish was not parking at bottom, but floating "freely".

The gill was pale. I was suspecting gill fluke, and the "new environment" just trigger it.

Bro, to my knowledge if gill is pale- Lack of oxygen/ Ammonia

You can go Mainland at Pasr Ris. They got a wide range of size, and they can custom made to your measurement too. price range from 100+ onwards, depending on size.

for lights, I'm using normal aquarium PL light set. I've 2 wooden bar cut to place across the fgt for putting the lights.
This is how I put the lights.

Bro, some chemical reactions could have taken place if the new fgt was not treated properly, causing the pH to crash when the fishes were added.

I don't think is this type....it is those unheathly gill....

I'm hestiating whether to treat the rest with PP or gill fluke medication...but bec no experience on TVR....very scare to do it...

Bro...not likely pH crash, as I had buffer it, and also I've a filter running with old media and oyster shell.

I've rule out chemical toxic bec I've not change the water, and the rest of the TVR are ok. It only happened to 2, which were suspected to have gill related problem from the way the gill plate open/close pattern.

but in all cases...just have to be more careful next time...
