Default New Shrimp Setup

Just setup this tank. Small 40cm x 19cm x 23cm running on Eheim 2013 (20+yr old) Canister. Currently a bit bare coz only a few Sakura and 1 Orange shrimp in it, survivors from my moving house period. Looking to keep Fire Reds eventually. Any comments welcome. Plants are all the leftovers from those that survived the house-moving. Substrate used is black quartz.

Thanks for viewing!

Thanks for the comments! Am pondering if i should add in 1 more bogwood. This is a see-through tank, set up next to my main door. Considering if the additional bogwood will obstruct any of the viewing angles.

Bro Jon-San, its neat and nice like this. No need for bogwood.

Anw, is yours an undergravel filtration system? Since quartz work differently from soil, undergravel may be good in my humble opinion.

It's not undergravel filter. Just normal canister, but a bit oversized for this tank coz rated flowrate is 390l/hr. it's probably a lot lower than that now, considering the media inside as well as the age of the filter (20+ years old). Was thinking of undergravel filtration initially, hooked up to this canister. But read too many negative comments about the problems encountered, esp when my quartz grains are small (1-3mm). Tendency to clog will be higher. I believe the filtration is more than sufficient, probably even overfiltered. Good thing is, I don't really need to add in airstone since the outflow directed at the surface causes sufficient agitation for gaseous exchange.
