Default b4 or after carbon filter

Hi all, i have just bought some benibachi crimsom ball for my shrimp tank. I have a overhead filter from GEX, theres a column which i can put the crimsom balls in nicely instead of leaving it in the tank.

will there be a problem as the balls are b4 the carbon filters? will the minerals release by the balls be absorb by the carbon filter?

I prefer it to be after but after thinking for quite a while is'nt is better to be put in the tank itself so that you can fill the other half of your filter with other things.

Just my 2 cents worth.
