Cooling fan question
Hi bros,
I would like to know how efficient is the cooling fan in term of lowering the temperature of a 2 ft planted tank? Is it worth it to get one? My planted tank water temp seems a bit warm to me.... |

The best I've heard of is 3 deg C. Usually 1-2plus deg C lower.

I decent-sized fan should be about to bring down the tank temp. by 1C-2C.
IMO, a fan is a worthwhile investment, especially for planted! This drop in 1-2C does wonders! |

You can try DIY one. There is some guide around on how to do it. It do help during hot weather especially if you got some shrimps in it.

Am using 80mm fans for my 2 ft tank. 1 on for 24/7 while the other on when I on my 55W light. For the other tank, just on when lights are on. Temp can be lowered 1-3 degrees like what bros have mentioned and you need to top up water more often. I think fans (80mm DIY) is suitable up to 2 ft. Bigger tanks need bigger fans. Once when room temp is hot, can reach 28.++ with lights and fans on. Other times can reach 26.++ when room temp not so hot or cooling. Try it first and can consider get bigger fans if u think not cool enough. Please note once fan effectiveness is reached, adding more fan would not cool temp any lower.
