Default 422 tank

Hi looking to set up a 422 tank but my parents don't allow Arowana. can the pros here suggest what I can keep as a top/middle fish that can comm with maybe 1 or 2 Motoro Rays . Can I comm 1 gar,1 pb,1 motoro and some it?

Gar can take out your rays (or any tank mates) eyes while striking out for food. Keep that in mind.

Plenty of choices though the decision is yours alone. Would suggest you look up to those threads in Showcase and Rays to see what other tank mates that captivate you.


PB, datnoids, other large cichlids etc.

Was thinking pb and datnoids but how many will be good? Are their bio load high?

Not too sure on the bioload but for 4 2 2 should be adequate if you are just housing those plus one or two rays - assuming you have good filtration system.


Also, you might want to go for a 3 feet wide tank because the rays will have restricted room once they are grown.

A shoal of Tor Putitora (Himalayan Golden Mahseer) would be a great focal point. But there would be a issue of feeding as your rays may not be able to get any food.

How many datnoids will be good to be house with 1 gar and 1 Motoro? Where can I get cheap one to start with

Many lfs selling tigers, if u r staying in the west, C328/C325 is a good hunting ground
