Default Balloon Tiger Barb?

I have seen these recently around at LFS, Seaview and Y618 labelled as balloon tiger barb. they look like really fat tiger barbs and cost quite abit more than the ordinary ones.

i tried looking online but couldn't find any information about them. Are these a different breed or just simply a variant of the normal tiger barbs?

Thanks!

They are the variant of the normal tiger barbs, probably shortbody gene. Just like molly we have balloon molly, Ram we have balloon ram and the list goes on.
