Considering to build CRS project
To all CRS Bros & Guru out there,
I have been browsing through CRS related posts and thought I might be doing a breeding of CRS project. While considering, I need more info and knowledge before commiting. I plan to get the following: 1) 2ft tank 2) Eheim Cannnister filteration 3) ADA Amazonia 2 (Soil) 4) Chiller 5) Mosses Can someone recommend which model of Eheim Cannnister filter is best for 2 ft tank? Also, what brand for Chiller? Last but not least, can someone list out the prices for the above items? Thanks. |

for a 2 feet tank, if you are keen in eheim, you could consider 2213. price wise is estimated at $85 - $90.

for chiller wise, i do not have any at the moment so i have no experience to comment much.
but based on my conversation with some lfs owner like c328 and y618 who are selling crs, they would advise me to get us/european brands like arctica and not china brand. their reasons are as follow: 1. the amount of wattage stated in the model of a china brand chiller like resun cl280 uses 280w of power and cl650 uses 650w of power, 2. arctica for example uses much less power. so this is about energy efficiency. 3. warranty issue. most us/european chillers come with 2 to 3 years of warranty as compared to china brands that come with 1 month or 6 months max 1 year depending on where you buy the chiller. 4. reliability. you want to get something you can depend on and the possibility of failure is lower. 5. technology. for now, the china chillers still lack behind in technology as compared to its counterpart. that explains the energy efficiency part. on top of that, the servicing is more convenient. 6. price. this is the killer for us/european brands for the price for a similar range of chiller is about 3 to 4 times that of its china friend. the arguement is that is it worthwhile to pay so much higher for a us/european chiller as compared to a china made one. i could change a china chiller every 2 to 3 years and it may even be cheaper than getting one us/european chiller. maybe those bros who have both us/european and china made chillers could comment on the various pros and cons and give more practical advice. it is basically up to inidividual... |

Add on some cost for your CRS project.
Filter media will cost quite a lot if you choosing bio home or bio home plus as your media. Lighting is also needed for the moss and shrimp. You also need to consider to buy some test kits like ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH etc.... Last one will be the SHRIMP!! CRS.....depends on what grade are u looking at. |
