my 2ft shrimp setup

Great setup, simple and elegance. My 3 cents worth of advice.
Using a fan is not advisable if wanna breed CRS in the near future. I have tried to use fan for a year but the result was not encouraging. No shrimplet except one but died later. A chiller is strongly recommended. Besides, the fan is really noisy in a quiet environment.

I am using fan at the moment, but my 1 feet tank only...... have been breeding for about 3 months.... recently notice 3 pregnant crs..... dunno it will be successful anot.... temp is between 24 degrees to 26 degrees.

Perhaps you can be successful with that. I am looking at the various factors affecting the birth of CRS. I am using 2 ft tank and the lowest temperature on average might be around 27-28 degrees. I believe the temperature might affect the birth of it. Do you find that using fan is noisy?

wow. nice prawnz u have there, however mine are all dead cox i've chiller. CRS is quite hard to maintain without chiller. Like lost of colour, not as white as before. etc. etc. etc.

seeing your prawnz, make me feel like owning it again~

If you are using a 2 feet tank, think a fan isnt enuff. I am using Mr Super Tonardo for my 2 feet sakura tank. It is quite impossible to achieve even 27 degrees on a cold day. Unless you are in an aircon room and it takes a longer time to bring down the temperature.

However, my 1 feet tank using a weaker black fan.... but seems to lower temperature better.

Dont recommend a fan for 1 feet tank and above unless you are in an aircon room.

i bought 1 fan at $38. only manage to bring down 1 or 2 degree. zzzzz

Perhaps one ft tank is possible to keep the tank cool using a fan but it has o its own complications to maintain it such as the PH scale. It seems to appear that using fan for CRS is not a good choice if one wants to breed the population of CRS and maintain its color.

Perhaps one needs to make a wise choice if one decided to stay on with the shrimp hobby. Or else the chiller will have to be resold or it could be used for marine aquarium. But my feeling that the shrimp hobby will carry on for some time not as a fad but there is new breed that always stir your excitement of keeping exotic shrimps.
