You can go and buy the Mosura TDS pen, it measures TDS, temperature and also conductivity.

I believe it measures purity of the water. The purer the water the lower the conductivity. TDS is Total Dissolved Soilds and is based on conductivity. The more solids dissolved in the water the higher the conductivity. Conductivity is a better measuring yardstick.
