Bro, i have some ketapang leave. if u want some, maybe can collect from me at serangoon north ave 1. My ketapang leave is already been processed coz i bought it long time ago and it works great for me when i have arowana. Those leave can help to reduce ur PH level. Ur case is opposite with mine and I know u also very anxious of how to improve ur water parameter.

Okay I just bought the KH test kit. It's Aqumedi brand. I read the instruction but have not used yet. Is by colour code( Blue over green and then into yellow) One drops is equal to 1dkh. So i assume is KH1 per drop till to the desire colour change to yellow.

My question here is how to know ur tank water is KH zero? I mean when u put in the first drop, it consider 1 but i read some ppl got kh reading zero. <<Given 1 situation whereby my KH is zero. Assuming that i scoop out 5ml of water from my tank for testing, i put in the 1st drop, it turned yellow, so i will assume that the KH is 1 even though is zero>>. Is it how it tested? If u dun mind, could kindly explain? First time use this stuff so a little blur and confusing

maybe for me, two reasons why ur tank has such low pH is because you use (undergravel + magic soil) as well as you have not let the tank's pH stabilized before addition! this method of filtration works well for shrimp tanks but together with such a "potent" soil, which brings pH down to 5+ even on itself(base surface area exposed to water only), it has a strong ph lowering effect on the tank and will probably last longer than other soils for it to stabilize. do not dispose and redo ur tank now! instead solve two problems at one go.. and the solution is to wait patiently =)

regarding the kH test.. i need enlightenment too...

I agree. However even ADA+UGF shows same problem during the initial week. Though ADA is not acid sulfate soil, it requires as long as 60 days for its pH to drop from 5.46 to 4.65...

With ADA or soils with high acidity, using UGF or improper gravel cleaning will bring down pH drastically. Low pH effect ends eventually when soil acidity almost totally exhausted. For me artificially increase kH is just like Panadol that may be helpful to some headache sufferers but not cure the root cause.

When doing water change, I pass tap water slowly thru carbon block water filters into a small container about 10L; then add few drops Prime and stir up for a minute and I can smell chlorine sometimes. Tap water pH shall around 7.2 and TDS about 55 in my area, I don't adjust pH because I know that the water is very soft. My only concern is diff of temperature (6C) when add into the tank, slowly cup by cup adding takes 5 mins for 10L water.
Sorry. What is TDS?

Total Dissolved Solids.
Simply means that the more minerals dissolved in the water, the higher the TDS.
