Gordy, Censis, I agree with them (that Gordy's mahseers are thai blue and that Censis would be better off with a big mahseer). Btw, my biggest two mahseers may not be thai mahseers as they don't have that black line running across horizontally. Should be humpack mahseer instead, not very sure though Wonder if mahseers and kelahs can sort of interbreed |

So far my Thai mahseer a have grown the fastest. Once I started regular feeding it put on 400g in about half a year. It's in at about 38cm now, up from 20cm 6 months ago. I ll be trying to breed them some time this year, but not sure if I have a male in my tank. I have mature pairs of tor duoronensis though, and will likely start with that. Don't plan to interbreed them.

Refer to the links below http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/187939/0 http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/188012/0 Not much data available on the in depth studies for the above but conservation are on going in the form of restricted fishing/harvesting, artificial breeding and restocking of rivers. Those that we often see in LFS are being sold as "Red Kelah" not sure if they are WC or artificially bred. But there are 2 locations in West Malaysia for WC specimens where locals label theirs as " kelah bara " and " kelah tembat ". In East Malaysia the kelah is called " Empurau " aka 忘不了. |

Tembat is the name of the river where they caught the kelah. I go by common name which they're called. There is another common name " kelah bara merah " , so what are these? So far as what I notice between the so called "tembat" and "bara", both looks slightly different in terms of colours and shape. That's why I mention these 2 only, bara and merah looks the same to me. My 2cents opinion. *i am not a certified ichthyologist. |
