Hi, if you don't mind old tank, equipment and etc. you can always go to the hobbyist marketplace section and look for them. it will be much cheaper
as for the ada soil, if you're keeping cherry shrimp you don't have to use that kind of soil just black quart as your base will do. |

For me personally
Tank - courtesy of a friend (2ft) Stand - used my iron stand from ikea (used to be for book rack) These two can already set you back 50$ or more (if you go for glass tank), many bros giving away for free though, or get 2nd hand much cheaper. Soil (ADA Amazonia II) - 38$ Mosses - java $3 for a big tub, 10$ for a mesh for fissidens / mini x'mas etc small piece of wood ($3) Filter - Jebao for 2ft tank around $60 Chiller - Hailea 130A for $150 (2nd hand) lighting - $20 for 24W PL ..... Additives (if you believe in them). Mosura old sea mud - $8 (cant really rmb the price) Mosura mineral plus - $8 (cant really rmb the price) Food - barley straw - $8 a bottle. last but not least your shrimps... A-S maybe $4-5 a piece? SS say $8 ? SSS say $12-14? hope i gave you a good breakdown of the cost incurred |

Erm...think you should at least let us know what kinda shrimps you will be keeping as different shrimp require different water parameter. |

I always checkout clementi florist aquarium, Blk 328 as I live in the west. You can go there check out the stuffs, they are quite affordable and prices are reasonable.

Actually if you are on budget, black quartz will do. soil will incur higher cost. And if you use soil, you need to cycle your tank for about 2 weeks before you can pour in the shrimps. You need alot of test kit to ensure the PH, KH and GH.
