Although shrimp's bioload is low, many think a small tank with small filter will work well. But it's not, the smaller the tank the more critical filtration matter in there. Not to mention water parameters can change very easily and rapidly in small water volume tank.
But well, since you already got your shrimps and setup running have fun keeping them and meanwhile try to read more of the article posted here to optimize your current setup and water condition. |

Sorry cant post pictures cos i got less than 10 posts. but well, here is the link to my simple set up
h ttp://img863.imageshack.us/img863/7207/c36020110611211535.jpg The HOF i bought. Like bro Koji™ mentioned, very little space for filter media. h ttp://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/861/c36020110611211524.jpg/ The inhabitants of my small tank Since i got no test kits, i am super paranoid that the parameters might go out of control. However, when i see the fries swimming here and there, i take it that the parameters are ok since the fries are all right. Oh btw, i saw a few baby snails around. Are they harmful to shrimps? I dont have to remove them right? |

You can try getting the small canister looking exteernal filter. A few brands available. Like eden and atman. I have one of this for my smaller tank at the office which definatly hold much more media than the small HOF. |
