Default shorty 2 setup

Guys, I just bought shorty 2. Question, how do u connect the intake? I am trying to feed the aquarium water directly to the skimmer. Is your glass hole 1.5 inches?

Or do u guys, use a separate pump to feed the skimmer?

The Shorty 2 comes with the OR3500 and it requires a 2nd pump to feed the water to it with at least 2000 L/H capacity.

I am using the OR 2500 to supply the water and the skimmer is installed in-sump. So can't help you regarding the hole diameter.

It is strongly recommended to use a separate pump unless your return pump is very powerful which you can T-off with a bypass to control the water flow to the skimmer ie at least 8500 L/H pump, more the better.

i was thinking of Rio 20 and Eheim 1262 to circulate the tank.

ok, understand u use the OR2500. so it is sufficient.

nim, i saw ur thread on shorty http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/sh...ghlight=shorty
i notice there is two difference,
1) the feed is on the same side as the pump in and out
2) the pump is on the same side but instead of vertical like yours it is horizontal to the skimmer.

why?

Hi Slcw,

the 2 output pipe size is d40.

Not sure other standard can squeeze in the tube. But u can try getting some 1 1.4" piping to try.

Cheers!
