Damage may be attributed to transport damage or being cramped up.

From what I can see, Mahseer don't really show all too much aggression towards each other. However, there active swimming style might cause them to scrape against each other's bodies if kept in a cramped setting, which may have been the case when the batch that yours came from were being transported to the shop.

Or, if it happened after they were introduced into the tank, it could have been one of the tankmates.
