erm i once put a few yamatos into my 3ft planted, and they started dying mysteriously. at first i thought it was maybe the water parameters, but one day i saw one yamato come out from under the vegetation onto my glosso lawn, and suddenly all my cardinals, rummy-noses and emperor tetras all just swarmed around it and ripped it apart in a frenzy. although i had immediately tried to fish out the yamato with a net, but by the time i got to it (it was merely a few seconds), the entire head and all the legs had been ripped off.

after all, tetras are characins. they are predators.
