In BKK a pure white gator gar (7 inches) selling about 6.5k only. Also was offered a pure white gator gar by indo seller at 7.2 k (30 cm) in Singapore.

I use a little coral chips. is it the ph or the kh that matters?
Was told by a gator breeder to use coral chips. Coral chips prevent ph fluctuation I guess... less stress to the fish.

its been a month already, I do not see much improvements. I do not feel like waiting any longer and am thinking of doing the exchange now.
The LFS has guarantee the color will not change ? If they have they should honour and refund back your money. Don't ask for 1-1 exchange,,, most likely same gene pool .. so ask for money back.

my ph is stable and doesn't fluctuate much so that shouldn't be the issue.

about the color guarantee, the lfs did not explicitely say it, but that should be understood right?

I am not sure about the gene pool but from what I understand, the lfs deals with the indo broker who goes around to source for the fishes. so it may come from different sources. since the lfs has offered a 1-1 exchange and since this is a fish I have always wanted to have I think I will do the exchange. if the replacement is still not up to standard, then I will ask for money back.

If you paid more than 10k then you deserve an explanation...

The indo broker will go back to the same farm for exchange rite? So end up same story....

I saw the pic and assume the same piece in bkk, dealer say pure white, when send pic, walao tail gone and otherwise. Hence gator gar don't compare price till you see actual fish. you get what you pay for.

Bro Ben, I assume you paid top dollar for your Gar and so did I. No regrets after you get a good piece. However, as an advise if you can settle for a good one, take refund. I intro you to someone who can get excellent gator plati for you. no excuses.

platinum gator hv few grade really
in my opinion the grading from lowest to highest would be
silvery platinum to reflective snow white to non reflective matt snow white

all the above the few black spotting especially at the top dosal fin and few on the tail shld slowly faded away as they get older, bigger and super stable

regarding surrounding colour,be it black, blue or white by right hv little impact on their quality, however snow gator is best kept in blue or black tank to enjoy the contrast

there are few snow gator keepers in sg,and few full grown monster out there, just that they are very low profile personnel, probably log on,read and just smile and move on.

one important aspect is try not to keep snow gator under direct sunlight, their skin don't do well, maybe more sensitive as compare to normal gator, thus adding stress to them and blemish might appear

humble opinion only

give your gar alittle more time to settle in
I do notice my gar blemish appearing when I move them around, due to stress and new environment or new tankmates.
and honesty gator at 18' is still young, before you pack your gator,at previous tank,if is snow white,i think shld be comfortably safe, but if is only silvery platinum, then different story,....WTT cannot produce snow white hor
