Default Shrimp feeding questions

Hi all,

i realize that the soil usually gets dirty after awhile with all their shrimp food and their own waste.

I was thinking if buying a mesh of moss and always feed them on top of the mesh of moss, the food would not drop to the soil hence keeping the tank clean.

As my tank lately got infected with worms, i did gravel cleaning and fed them lesser. fortunately the pests seems to die down.. thats why it gets me thinking how to keep the tank clean.

Also how many times you all feed your shrimps? last time i feed 2 times daily..
now reduce to 1 time..

There are glass feeding plates for that, because the shrimps tear up the food quite alot, tiny bits might seep down into the substrate.

Soil breaks down and looks like mud or waste. So nothing to be alarm. Just don't stir it!

Tis 'feeding dish' can be any kind of small dish, eg those you use for chilli sauce at dining table. WASH thoroughly before use and keep that one dish for your shrimps will do.. don't switch w those you use for eating.

Btw, it is good to have 1 thread on your tank and contain your concerns in that one thread. Reason being, you are able to trace back all your post on your own tank in future. It is much easier than... say months later, you want to trace back something ad you realised you have so many threads to refer to, or even, out of laziness or convenience, start another thread.

If you notice, a few of us are doing that. 1 thread for 1 tank or 1 project. They (including myself) tends to refer back after sometime and we are able to trace some info we need again.

Feed your shrimps just enough or slightly lesser will do. You will have less problem.

Btw I feed my shrimps twice per days. I didn't experience much problem here.

For me, I usually feed only 1 time per day....if I find them not so interested in the food provided, I will skip 1 to 2 days before I feed again
