Thanks for the reply.
Was looking around and could hardly find any good quality bds. The pandas are lagi even harder to find. Where can I find some bds and pandas if I want to try them in future? |

There a little shortage in bds the most u can find is A grade unless there is breeder letting go. Pandas is too ex for lfs to bring in on huge qty it super rare to even spot them selling. Even they do have it will be like only 2 to 3 pcs. Unless u order from oversea or share with other to bring in or there are chances that some breeder have successfully breed and is letting go.

have you started rearing shrimps first?
if yes, its better to start from BDS then to panda. Panda is expected to be more sensitive than BDS. water parameter must be tip top for them. if not, its better to start with shrimps like cherry. learn through the process and try to get them breed for you. Once success, look out for more information about how to rear BDS/Panda. |

TS, firstly, did you do a search in the forum for the different shrimps you asked about? There are some threads on it, and there are photos of some hobbyist's shrimps. You should be able to find sufficient photos and do a comparision. Mere description doesn't help.
Overall. Just a simple layman description and observation (but not the actual differences actually) Black Diamond Shrimp (BDS) It is similar to Crystal Red Shrimps (CRS), just black/white instead of red/white. The intensity of black and white may not be good, usually weak black (brownish is common these days). Panda Shrimp Usually, the white patches are more uneven. Like panda bears, but reverse. There are white patches around the shrimps' eye area. The body also contains patches of whites. Black King Kong Shrimp (BKK) Usually, these shrimps are very very black with some patches of whites. The intensity of blacks reaches a point where it becomes shinny/reflective. Eg, well kiwi boots that shines compared to mildly kiwi boots that doesn't shine. Legs are also black. |

Yeah fully agreed with Eviltrain, for a beginner, it would be too risky to go for the Pandas.... as it will cost you at least 2 blue note..... just for a small piece. With this amount you can buy alot more lower grade BDS to try out and gain teh experience before you move into Pandas...

Currently, I am running 3 1 feet gex tanks with crs for about 3 months. About 10+ crs in each tank. Wanting to start 1 tank on snow white before trying other shrimps. Saw 1 crs berry in one the tanks. So happy but currently using a hang on filter, scare the shrimplets will be suck in. I am not using a chiller, could see the colour of the shrimps are better in december as the weather is cooler. May think of using fans in future.
