Default beckett,needlewheel, spray injactor etc.

was wondering in the past, h&S was very famous even now still quite popular among some reefer.
There are a few post on the sales of Aqua C and still unsellable. Is it because spray injactor aqua C have fault/error or is it because its not popular anymore?

Beckett claim that its more or less one of the best around, but how do one know if it can serve how much G of water? I understand that it might have the most fine bubbles around compare to the likes of aqua C and H&S,but will the reaction chamber big and tall enough to cope with the tank's bioload? Aqua C and H&S claim that it can serve up to 200G,180G etc. but how about beckett?

what happen if we have a beckett that isn't strong enough for our reef? In the end, it will problem will arise and might even result in crash.

anyway, are skimmers like aqua C really arent good enough mixed reefs or sps reefs? Would a H&S serve a SPS tank well? or do we really have to go for beckett which has no claims at all?

if i were to have a tank fully pack with SPS and have 6 tangs and a school of anthias in a 4x2x2 tank. running a beckett 6'' diameter 30inch tall.
than i upgrade to a tank 5x2x2 with mixed reef of sps lps,8tangs and same school of anthias. how would i know if i have to upgrade my skimmer or my current skimmer can cope with the bioload? i mean is there a guideline or something? at least deltec will tell me e.g APXXX model can cope with 800L normal stocking and 600L heavy stocking, but the beckett and its maker doesn't. so,how to check if its good enough to serve my new tank?

It is very difficult to define how big a tank each skimmer can serve. Some 4x2x2 has only 10 fishes. Some has 30 fishes. No clear cut case. As long as NO3 is maintaining at a very low level, the skimmer is suitable for your tank. If NO3 is steadily rising, it means that the skimmer cannot cope with the amount of DOC produced, therefore you need to change yr skimmer.

dun trial and error lah. juz go look at other reefers and decide.

i used to have a 3x2x2.5 tank, loaded with sps and 5 tangs! using aquac ev-120. sps colour up quite ok and can maintain water parameters. juz dun overfeed the tangs!

i then changed to mini beckett (total height, including collection cup is 22"). used a rio 6000l pump for it. sps colour up extremely well. even those with nice colour turned super nice and grows very fast.

if u wanna change, go for a beckett! for 5 footer, single beckett should do it but use a pressure rated pump like md-55. talk to joe_p of sgreef club for beckett size and pump.
