Breeding Season 2016.....Sharing the fine Art of Ranchu Breeding and Keeping....
I had my first spawn just before Christmas 2015, but as the fries were only a few days old, I did a 4 day trip to China...4 days of no water change and came back to fries that were not doing well and I have to cull very heavily. Most of the tail couldn't open fully and the shoulders were mostly weak. These are some of those that I managed to salvaged....
Parents are Ozawa line males bred by Golf and Dew and the female is Kageyama. I repeated the breeding 6 days ago and the fries as below and hopefully I can do a better job... |

Wow bro how do you get second batch in such a short time?
Is that hand spawning? How do you change water for 2 days old fries? (Sorry I am not experienced in goldfish breeding, hope I can learn something from sifu here). TIA |

12 days old ranchu fries....please look closely at their liveliness. Ranchu breeding is an art/science and given our(SINGAPORE!!) very handicapped and unique space situation, we ranchu keepers especially the die hards have done much hardworks over the years to improvised and relearned the fine art of ranchu keeping. We in Singapore are raising ranchu in very harsh environment especially lack of space and good Sunlight....respect those who dare venture into the ranchu challenge to test their fishkeeping skills...will you take up the challenge??? Breeding and growing ranchu fries with "ZERO" death....once any death occur, something is either wrong with the water or live feeds....we always maintain very tight control on water quality and very attentive because one small negligence and whole spawn might have to be thrown away and start at ground ZERO again!! |
