Just imagine ...

3 tiers.

Top-tier (with cover) - this comes with drilled holes at the bottom for water to flow down. I use filter wool and bio matt for mechanical pre-filtration.

Middle-tier - same with drilled holes. This segment I put in the Mr. Aqua CR previously for bio filtration.

Bottom-tier (with front outlet) - This one I put up to 4 layers of Bacteria House. Given the outlet position, bottom layer of bacteria house would be semi-submerge. The rest in a wet-dry state.

The filter boxes were previously setup to use a standard Tsurumi pump (12000L/hr). So you can be rest assured that the drill holes and outlet are big enough and designed to take the high flow rate.

This pic might show a liitle more about the top-tier. PVC pipe with holes drilled to handle the large flow.
