Mysterious Death of Shrimps?

Hi, I have been keeping shrimps for around 8 months nows. With cherry shrimps initially in a small tank and moved on to a 2 ft tank. The reason to move was because my small tank bedding was contaminated with nitrate and alot of shrimps died. and mainly, i wanted a bigger tank to enjoy the shrimps.

after changing, i kept cherry shrimps, sakura shrimps and tiger shrimps. bought them all at crs haven at tampines. however, for the past 5 months, since i changed to my 2 ft tank, shrimps start to die every week. at least 1 shrimp will die every week, sometimes 1 each day. for the past 4 days, 1 died each day.

was wondering if anyone knew this is normal or if there is some problem with the tank? i asked crs, they say it's normal for shrimps to die now and then... ??

here's my tanks env.

2 ft tank, normal filter, 1 fan.
temp - 28 degree
nitrate - 0 to 5.
water change - every 2 weeks once, 10% change
water topup every week due to evaporation
feeding - every day 1 pellet.
total number of shrimps - 20. 7 cherry, 5 sakura, 8 tiger

Did you test for ammonia and nitrite?
Any pH, KH/GH readings? Any other creatures in the tank?
How long did you cycle the tank before the shrimps were introduced?

Its not normal for shrimps to be dropping so fast

as per crs haven in tampines, they told me to cycle 1.5 weeks before addition of shrimps.. which is what i did..

1 green lace in tank.. other than the shrimps.. 2 horn snail and 2 other snail.. forget wad its called.. :S previously got 3 green lace.. 1 died while molting.. the other.. duno why die oso..

is it recommended to buy the other kits to test? cuz i only got nitrate test kit...

also, just wondering if temperature is a problem? because previously the water temp is 30 degrees before i added the fan.. after add fan.. stil die... :S

Most likely is due to your water parameters slightly off, that's why the shrimps start to die off one by one.

It would be good, that you try, taking a few picture of your tank to let us understand the exact things inside.

Also, what type of food you feed to them and how much?

Lastly, I'll suggest a 20% water change every week for now until things stabilize and make sure when u change water.. it does not affect your soil and etc.

as u can see.. very simple setup only... for the others parameters.. probably i would get the test kits tomorrow to test for them..

also, juz wan to clarify, the shop told me tiger shrimps can take ard 28 degress but i read here.. 26only...?

I would suspect your fan is not strong enuff for a 2 feet tank and your ph level to be off.... you using Ada soil?

anyway.. i read some threads say cycle for 1mth?!

mine juz cycle 1.5weeks nia.. daily 30% water change...

You should cycle the tank for 1-2 months
